To accelerate growth, we are looking for a hands-on business development manager to join our team. As IoT is the game of ecosystems, you will be responsible for setting up partnerships with other stakeholders in the IoT ecosystem in order to ensure the growth of Waylay through co-marketing, co-selling and reselling opportunities. You will be responsible for contacting partners, discovering and formulating a joint value proposition, closing cooperation contracts and coordinating with sales such that these actions lead to commercial success. You are willing to engage on the long term and be part of the growth of the company.


Responsibilities

  • You identify, propose and contact potential business partners.
  • You discover and explore opportunities of working together.
  • You travel for in-person meetings with partners and build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships. This includes short business trips abroad.
  • You understand partner’s business needs and objectives. You manage partner expectations and contribute to a high level of partner satisfaction.
  • You effectively communicate the value proposition through presentations.
  • You understand vertical-specific ecosystems and trends. You monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to the team.
  • You close new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts.
  • You keep your knowledge up-to-date by attending networking events; maintaining personal networks and attending fairs.
  • You work closely with sales, marketing and the Waylay management team.
  • You work from our head offices in Ghent, Belgium

Skills and experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in B2B business development. Prior experience in a startup context is a bonus.
  • You are knowledgeable about IoT, PaaS/SaaS, the service economy and SW integration.
  • You have a large network in the energy, building management, logistics industry and/or regional and local governments.
  • You are multilingual (English, Dutch, French, German is a bonus).
  • You have essential project management skills and follow-up on action points.
  • You are hands-on and you can give product demos to partners.
  • You are able to articulate the Waylay value proposition to partners.

The Technical Integration Manager’s responsibilities are to manage integration projects through developing, coordinating, and evaluating integration project plans including budget management, organize and track project plan documents, perform scope preparation/writing, understand technical requirements, manage clients and vendors. Your responsibilities
  • Accountable for IT integration projects. Accountability includes building the project plan, coordinating the plan to completion, and evaluating the success: on-time delivery, expense management, customer satisfaction
  • Work with clients to determine their needs and requirements.
  • Learning and understanding the Waylay technology.
  • Understanding technical integration technologies, as well as IoT, cloud and API technologies so decisions can be made on project plan requirements and where appropriate doing minor coding to support the technical requirements.
  • Responsible for project plan documentation including development and updating and some development of use case specifications

Skills and experience

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in project management
  • Bachelor's Degree (computer science preferred or comparable work experience)
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Experience producing software development scope/specification documentation
  • Experience/knowledge of agile development (scrum/kanban)
  • Knowledge of product development and product lifecycles
  • Very strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

What you should bring to the table

  • Devoted to developing rock solid backend services and apps, so you can sleep well the night before launch
  • Solid foundation in modern application development on the JVM, preferably Scala and not afraid to wander into other territories like node.js, ruby or front-end development
  • You know how to build distributed applications and can take care of deployment
  • You value writing well-tested code
  • Modelled, developed and optimized on various database systems (mongoDB, elasticsearch, cassandra, influxDB, SQL …)
  • Knowledge of spark, flink, storm, R or other data mining techniques is a big plus
  • You feel at home on the linux command prompt (know how to quit vi)

What you should bring to the table

  • A solid understanding of the JavaScript language, HTML5 and CSS3
  • A passion for creating experiences that users will rave about
  • Proficiency developing well structured web applications using modern JavaScript tools like React, Browserify, Angular, etc.
  • Familiarity with testing and automation frameworks
  • Familiarity with Node / Express
