Job description

We are looking for someone with a passion for numbers, an accountant who is eager to grow with us. Waylay has an international growth trajectory and for starters, you will be supporting the business operations in Belgium and the US.

This is a full-time position, you will be based in our offices in Ghent.


  • Continuous review of existing accounting processes and procedures and recommend and implement more efficient and effective solutions
  • Cooperate with the Sales teams in order to get purchase orders issued and invoices paid on time
  • Process incoming and outgoing invoices, bank statements, and expense notes for the Belgian and US office
  • Prepare and maintain all the financial accounting and records adhering to relevant accounting standards 
  • Work with auditors in preparing annual audited financial statements
  • Consolidate group accounts
  • Prepare and file VAT and tax declarations 
  • Ensure all financial compliance and regulatory requirements are met
  • Partake in ad hoc accounting or finance projects and analysis, as assigned

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in accountancy 
  • 2-3 years of experience, ideally in an international technology scale-up
  • Strong technical and up to date accounting knowledge and experience with accounting reconciliations
  • Cross-border VAT and other tax regulations experience 
  • Highly organized and with the ability to independently take on multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a clear sense of priorities and targets
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail 
  • Ability to meet and establish deadlines
  • Flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Keen interest in technology
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English
